Standards for nurse practitioner continuing education

The Nurse Practitioner Education Continuum Council (NPECC) advances quality CE through independent standards, transparent review, and evidence-based professional development.

Who we are

NPECC is an independent education council dedicated to standards for continuing education serving nurse practitioners and advanced practice teams. NPECC develops criteria for educational design, commercial independence, faculty disclosure, assessment, evaluation, and records. Delivery of learning activities and certificates may be provided through affiliated platforms such as NPCEUs (npceus.org). NPECC does not issue state licenses or national board certifications.

How NPECC works with NPCEUs

1. Standards

NPECC publishes criteria for quality NP continuing education—objectives, evidence, disclosure, evaluation, and records.

2. Process approval

Activities that meet NPECC process criteria may be labeled process-approved. We do not claim ANCC contact hours by default.

3. Delivery

Modules and certificates are delivered on affiliated platforms such as NPCEUs, powered by rigorous product systems.

For nurse practitioners

Looking for professional development modules? Browse activities on npceus.org. Always confirm whether your certifying board and state accept a given CE type.

Honest labeling: Certificates currently issue Proliforge CEUs for professional development. They are not ANCC contact hours unless and until an applicable Accredited Provider designation is held and clearly disclosed.

For educators & platforms

Experts and platforms who want NPECC process alignment should start with our standards and activity file checklist—built to mirror the bones of established CE quality systems without false claims of external accreditation.
